Finding Open Pharmacies During Disaster
In a disaster or incident that threatens yourself, your family, and/or your belongings, protecting your medications is often an after-thought. As a result, it is fairly common for evacuees to leave their life-saving medications behind, and even worse, not know the clinical or common names of these medications. While the Rx Response medication card can help with the latter, the Rx Response Pharmacy Status Reporting tool helps to connect emergency management and the general public with open pharmacies within an affected disaster area.
Rather than searching the yellow pages for the closest open pharmacy, anyone needing this information can utilize the Rx Response Pharmacy Status Reporting tool to obtain needed prescription medications during an emergency. This feature is ONLY active during a declared disaster and/or following a request from affected states' emergency management officials to begin reporting on open pharmacies.
Once activated, the online tool provides users with the capability to:
- Enter an address, city, county, state and/or zip code to locate the closest pharmacies
- Download a list of all open pharmacies within an affected area
For more information on how the Pharmacy Status Reporting tool works, view the various menu toolbar options under “Pharmacy Reporting”.
